TYPE: Net and wall
CYCLE: II and III ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium
MATERIAL: badminton courts, tennis balls
TACTICS: send the ball so the opponent can or cannot catch it back
DESCRIPTION:
Layer 1:
- Teams of 4 will be made
- Each player has a designated square, each square has a number going from1 to 4
- The player in the 1st space will serve with an underhand slap in a partner’s square
- The player lets the ball bounce once and then slap it back into another space
- The tennis has to reach at least height of the shoulders
- The goal is to maintain a rally
Layer 2:
- The goal is now to reach inside of the 1st square
- If a player misses his serve or slaps the ball out, he has to go back in the 4th square and every player that were in a lower square move up from 1 square
- No smash allowed
Layer 3:
- Players are now allowed to smash the ball
MODIFICATIONS:
- Play with different balls (e.g. mini-volley balls)
- Play with more than 4 players (e.g. 9 squares)
SAFETY
- Teach how to react when a ball goes on the other courts (ask for it!)
- Players have to stay in their square during the play, otherwise it’s a foul and the player goes back to square number 4
