GAME: Touch Rugby TYPE: Territorial
CYCLE: III ACTIVITY LEVEL: High
MATERIAL: 6-8 foot balls or rugby balls, pinnies for everyone (2 colors)
TACTICS: Keep possession of the ball
Move into a good position to score
Establish eye contact before passing and receiving
DESCRIPTION:
Layer 1:
- Teams of 3 or 4 are made
- They will make some passes amongst them (underhand)
Layer 2:
- They will now make passes with the intention of going into the opposite’s end zone
- They are not allowed to move with the ball the 2 or 3 first times but when they showed they were able to “score” they will be allowed to run with the ball
- Both teams will do it at the same time
Layer 3:
- Only 1 ball is in play now
- The goal is to bring the ball to the opposite’s end zone
- Players can locomote with the ball and they have to make underhand passes
- To stop players to run, opponents have to touch them with both hands
- If a player is touched he keeps the ball but can’t run anymore
- After a team is touched 3 times, it’s a turnover
MODIFICATIONS:
- When a player is touched he can only make back passes
SAFETY
- Remember proper use of touch (no slaps, no push …)
- When a player is touched 1 arm length from him for defenders
