GAME: You’re the net TYPE:
Net and wall
CYCLE: II and III ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium
MATERIAL: badminton courts, beach balls, mini-volley balls
TACTICS: send the ball so the opponent can or cannot catch it back
DESCRIPTION:
Layer 1:
- Each player will be paired up
- 3 teams will be in a designated area (badminton court)
- 1team will start has a net, the rest will be playing a game
- 1 team will start with a beach ball and will do an underhand serve
- The goal is to maintain the rally so it has to be an easy serve
- The team on the opposite court will try to catch the ball
- The player who catched it will pass it to his partner
- The partner will try to serve it back (underhand)
- The team in the middle has to stand on the middle line and try to intercept the ball
- Switch every 2-3 minutes
Layer 2:
- The goal is now to score a point
- In order to score a point players have to send the ball so the opponents cannot catch it
- If the ball is sent outside of the court it’s a point for the team in “defense”
- No smash allowed
- If the “net team” intercepts it it’s a point for the team defense
- Switch every 10 points
Layer 3:
- Players are now allowed to smash the ball
MODIFICATIONS:
- Play with different balls (e.g. mini-volley balls)
- Play a best of 9 game, the winner stays (the net will try to equilibrate things if only one team always wins)
SAFETY
- Teach how to react when a ball goes on the other courts (ask for it!)
- Establish a safety zone for the net team (a 1-2 meter space where only the net team can move
