GAME: Star Wars versus Star Trek TYPE: Special Game
CYCLE: III ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium-High
MATERIAL: gym, many soft balls, 24 hoops, cones, pins, pinnies 4 or 8
TACTICS: Being aware of opposing players
Strategically working as a team
Defending attacking territories
DESCRIPTION:
Layer 1:
- 4 teams are formed equally by the teacher and are assigned to their area
-Each team tries to shoot at keels and stars at their right opposite team (Keels and stars are formed with the use of hoops and pins).
-Keels and stars are equally placed and spaced by the teacher On the 4 areas
-To win the game, players have to take down all the keels and stars
-There will be one Mighty Guardian per team.
-The Mighty Guardian wears a pinny and is the only one who can intercept balls.
Layer 2:
-Students can intercept balls.
-When the ball strikes a student directly, they are considered “injured”.
-When a player is “injured”, the player must stand on the designated side lines.
-In order to “heal” (free) an “injured” student, the guardian must make five consecutive passes with this student from an 8 meters distance on the side.
-Students are not permitted to strike an opposing student above the shoulders. If this occurs, the player who is hit by the ball is safe.
MODIFICATIONS:
- If a player is injured, they immediately begin playing as part of the opposing team.
- There can be more than one “Mighty Guardian”.
-Strong players will only be able to throw with their non-preferred hand.
-A different colored ball will be added, with which only females can throw with.
-Any player can heal one of their injured players
SAFETY
-Soft balls will be used.
-The teacher will remind students to throw the ball low
-The teacher will remind students there are many students around them and to be careful when throwing the ball.
